MYSC News Update

2011 Registration Celebration was a lot of fun! The Seattle Sounders players were a big hit, and Roger Levesque was a good sport and took a turn in the dunk tank! Roger Levesque & Tyson Wahl signed a lot of posters and posed for pictures…and were about the last to leave the field. Lots of kids got out on the field with the Rush coaches who ran them through skill building drills. Thank you for participating!
Registration is going well! All kindergarten through 5th graders should have brought home a MYSC informational flier. The flier contains a lot of information about the upcoming season, and registration tips. Registration will continue through the summer – until rosters are full, and many age groups fill up. There are several age groups that are already full, if your age group is not available on the registration page it is because it is full, we will create a wait list so contact us if you wish to be added to the wait list.
SPRING LEAGUE was a big hit. MYSC had twenty two teams participating. The cold weather didn’t keep over 250 MYSC soccer players from having a great time playing soccer – in the sun, rain, or hail! “THANK YOU!” to the coaches who gave their time and energy to make the first spring league soccer season a huge success.
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP Recipients: MYSC grants four $1,000.00 scholarships for college bound high school seniors. Our Board received over 20 applications this year – which was great, and many of them played many seasons with our Club. The group of students applying was impressive – goal minded, amazing commitments to school & activities, and very successful scholars. This year’s recipients are: Chris Varner, Hunter Coulombe, Alexander Werenka & Shelby Knowles. We all say “Congratulations, and good luck!”
TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES We have found that some members are looking for information about soccer camps in our area. Our Board decided we would add soccer camp information on our website. MYSC does not endorse any provider, but we believe kids will benefit from continuing to build soccer skills at a summer camp opportunity. We will update the soccer camp section of our website periodically.
