Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club and WA Rush Premier to offer new Select Program

In a collaboration between the region’s only Premier soccer program and one of the region’s largest recreational soccer clubs, Washington Rush Premier and Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club proudly announce the formation of a new competitive program – Mukilteo Rush Select Soccer.

Mukilteo Rush Select will serve the growing number of youth who are interested in receiving quality training, higher competitive play and neighborhood camaraderie while training on Mukilteo recreational fields. The Select program will run over a 6-7 month time period for boys and girls ages U11-U14 seeking a higher level of play with less time and financial commitment than is normally associated with Premier soccer.

“Our two boards have been working for some time to create a natural conduit between the Mukilteo Recreational program and Washington Rush, which is the chartered Regional Club (RCL) for North County Youth Soccer,” said Ivo Schilbach, Mukilteo’s VP of Select. “There is a huge need for this middle-ground of soccer both in our community and in the broader state system.”

“As North County’s only RCL and Premier organization, Washington Rush is committed to the community and grassroots soccer,” explained Ben Somoza, Technical Director of Rush. “By implementing this program we are aligning with our mission statement to develop youth through the game of soccer by now providing all levels of play for every soccer player.”

The rollout of Mukilteo Rush Select is the culmination of a partnership several years in the making. Washington Rush coaches and directors have generously donated their time and talents to bring extra training opportunities to both Mukilteo recreational players and coaches. They have also helped with other community events, such as the annual Mukilteo Spring Soccer Jamboree for which Rush leveraged their contacts with the Seattle Sounders inviting fan favorites like Roger Levesque, Taylor Graham and Tyson Wahl to play with the kids, sign autographs and procure items for local recreational players to take home.

Tryouts for the NEW Mukilteo Rush Select program will take place May 18-19.
