Just For Kicks!

Hello soccer fans,

This is the first in a series of regular articles from MYSC to the local community.  We hope to bring you current information about our club as well as other soccer opportunities and events that may be of interest.

Registration – for MYSC fall soccer – all ages – begins May 1.  In an effort to offer exceptional value, we have kept our registration fees low.  If you register before May 31 you pay only

$80         U8 and above (includes stipend for uniform)

                $50         U6-U7 (includes jersey)

May 31 all registration fees increase by $35!

Coaches – All interested new coaching candidates should go to Volunteer Opportunities to get started.  We provide lots of training and coaching clinics, so if you’ve been wanting to coach, but are unsure of how to get started – this is your chance!

Returning coaches should also register as soon as possible by going to our Online Registration System. This will take you to the Bonzi system.

Field Development – MYSC is currently negotiating with local officials to develop a turf field facility.  If you want to be a part of this fantastic opportunity, go to  Contact Us and select “Volunteer Opportunities”.  We are especially interested in those with expertise in Grant Writing, Environmental Engineering/Consulting, Excavation and Artificial Turf.

Kamiak Boys Soccer– After defeating Meadowdale 1-0 in a hard fought away match on April 27, the Knights are second place in Wesco South (1st among 4-A Schools) with a 4-2-0 conference record.  They finish the regular season against Jackson, Shorecrest and Mariner.

Mariner Boys Soccer– The Marauders also won their April 27 match against Lynnwood 1-0.  That win puts them at 3-3 in Wesco South league play and squarely in the hunt for a post season appearance. Their remaining games are against Glacier Peak, Shorewood and Kamiak.

Muk Cup– That last match between Mariner and Kamiak is sure to be a thriller.  It will be played at Kamiak on Wednesday, May 5 at 7:30pm.  Kamiak is looking to avenge an earlier 1 goal loss to Mariner and Mariner wants to put an exclamation point on this season’s dominance of their cross-town rivals.  This game is also likely to have post-season implications for both squads, so come out and support these terrific young scholar-athletes.

If you have local soccer related news to share, contact ivo@mysc.org and we’ll try to include it in the next Just for Kicks report.
