2012 Micro Season Information

MYSC Micro Coaches and Parents
In an attempt to clearly communicate the events for our Micro Program this season we have put together a comprehensive list of events for you. Please refer to the MYSC website for the most current information as the season progresses.
Coaches Meeting- The coaches meeting for the Micro Program will be held at the Mukilteo YMCA on August 15th from 8 PM to 9 PM. We will discuss the specifics of the season and you will also receive practice gear, medical kits, and your schedule.
Practices- Coaches choose time and location of practices with in field availability parameters. One practice a week is recommended however coaches may choose to have a second. Recommended practice length is 45 minutes. Practices begin no later than the week of Labor Day.
Games- All games are on grass Saturday mornings at Explorer Middle School. Game times are at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 AM. Each team will play at the same time all season. Game schedules will be posted to the MYSC website by Labor Day. Games begin two weekends after Labor Day on Saturday September 15th. The final game will be Saturday October 27th.
Games consist of four 10 minute quarters. Coaches will be on the field and serve as referees. Please allow for 2 minutes after the first and third quarters and 5 minutes for half time. This will allow us to meet the scheduled start times on later games. Each team will have 3 players on the field of 20-30 yards with no goalie.
Rules- All fouls are called and kicks are indirect. An indirect kick means that a player must pass the ball or deflect it off of another player before a goal can be called. Every stoppage of play resumes with an indirect kick or throw in, including kick offs and goal kicks. Corner kicks, goal kicks, and throw-ins will occur. Please coach on incorrect throw-ins however do not stop play to re-take the throw. We are looking for continuous play at this age.
Uniforms- Each player will receive one team shirt to be worn on game day. Players will be responsible for providing their own socks and shorts. Specific colors are not mandatory. Shin guards and soccer/tennis shoes are mandatory. Uniforms will be handed out to coaches following the Micro Coaches’ clinic.
Coaches Clinic- There will be one Micro age appropriate coaches’ clinic on Friday September 7th, from 6PM-7 PM, at Explorer Middle School. Please wear active attire and plan to participate. There is plenty of room for kids to run and play if you would like to bring your little ones. Team uniforms will be handed out following this clinic.
Player Clinics- In addition to, or in place of a team’s normal practices, MYSC will be offering 4 Micro Players’ Clinics. These will be our Friday Night Lights Sessions and run for 4 consecutive Friday’s starting on September 14th. Clinics will be at Explorer from 6PM to 7PM. Players should not wear their uniforms and should bring appropriate shoes, shin guards, water, and a ball.
Picture Day- Picture Day will be on September 29th at Explorer Middle School. Coaches will get their team’s respective time for pictures when they pick up their uniforms following the Coaches Clinic on September 7th. There will be one Micro Program all inclusive photos taken the same Saturday at 9:20 AM. Also, individual team photos, and individual player photos taken on this day. Each family will have the opportunity to purchase any of these shots.
